About Us
The JOURNAL OF SOCIO AUTHENTIC INSIGHTS (JSAI) acknowledges that issues, challenges and problem solving do not occur in isolation as the world and societies are interconnected. Yet, there are differing opinions and perspectives. This journal provides the space for original contributions recognizing transdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary approaches the present and emerging challenges. The journal invites original contributions from novice, emerging and established researchers to enhance intellectual perspectives to discourses, discussions, research and practical problem-solving approaches to the interconnected world using authentic academic, socio and socio-scientific frameworks.
Objectives
- To provide an accessible platform for novice, emerging and established researchers to disseminate original authentic research
- To inspire aspiring African and global researchers
- To disseminate research and communication in a simple comprehensible way for the masses beyond the academic community
- To provide broader African communities, and the rest of the global community with insights into issues for reflection through use of their own critical lenses

Given the transdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, and interdisciplinary approaches to societal enhancement or its challenges, the Journal of Socio Authentic Insights (JSAI) includes the following broad foci, amongst others:

Author Guidelines
General
- Submissions must not have been submitted, be under consideration or published in any other source formal or informal or in any other language
- All submissions must be in English
While it is understandable that English may or may not be the author’s primary language, the submission should be well articulated in English at a comprehensible level for all readers. It is the responsibility of all authors/co-authors to ensure that submissions have undergone a thorough English edit.

Manuscript Content Format
- The manuscript should contain the following compulsory sections in bold upper case without numbering.
- TITLE (All in upper case, concise – maximum 20 words)
Author information to be placed below the title in a two-columned table according to their contributions. Surname, Name/s with the current affiliation and country stated below each name followed by the email of each author (see fictitious example). The order of contribution should be indicated by a numbered superscript at the end of each author’s name.

- ABSTRACT (maximum 250 words, with no headings but should include an introductory statement, context, purpose, methodology, key finding/s, conclusion and recommendation/s)

Other - Tables and figures are to be placed within the manuscript and numbered in order of use (Table 1, Table 2…). Table titles to be placed above the tables and figure captions below the figures with 8-point line spacing between the table title and the table and before the figure caption.
- Tables, figures or other visuals should not be split over two pages. Rearrange the content logically to fit onto the same page.
- All images should be clear which includes any text.
- All human subjects, trademarks, identifiable structures and logos should be masked in all visuals.

- For three or more authors, cite the first author only and insert et al. to stand in for subsequent authors’ names (Imenda et al., 2019).

PEER REVIEW
The review process involves: (1) blind review where editor/s hide their identity or use pseudo identities through track change system. (2) A double-blind review process follows, where the authors and reviewers’ identities are hidden. The Editor in Chief will make the final decision for acceptance or rejection based on the recommendations emanating from the review process. The Editor in Chief’s decision is final. The Editor in Chief may make suggestions for authors to revisit their submissions, if rejected.
If accepted at the review stage, the review feedback will be sent to the corresponding author for revisions based on recommendations provided by the reviewers and/or editor. The revised manuscript is then returned by the corresponding author to the Editor in Chief. Upon acceptance of the revised manuscript, the corresponding author is obliged to pay the article processing charges. Upon confirmation of receipt of the processing charges, layout and proof-reading will follow.
PROOF-READING AND PUBLICATION:
Authors are urged to follow all guidelines, policies and statements of JSAI to ensure the smooth flow of the review and publication process. While reviewers are encouraged to provide timeous feedback, much of the process is dependent on their independent work flow which could contribute to unexpected delays.
Proofreading will be sent to the corresponding author before publication. Authors should carefully review and promptly email the proof to the editorial desk. A maximum of two proof readings will be allowed thereafter full APC charges will be implemented. No changes to the essence of the submission other than that advised by the reviewer and editor-in-chief is permitted post reviewer feedback and communication. The submission will need to keep to the data originally provided. Any such transgressions may result in forfeiture of the APC, if such are not timeously corrected as stipulated by the editor.
* By submitting the article for consideration and/or publication all authors/co-authors consent to their emails (main and alternate), affiliations and ORCIDS being displayed in the manuscript publication. Further, all contact information is true and contactable (including all alternate contact information).

- Submissions should have forms JSAI 01 and JSAI 02 attached in the same email. Submissions with incomplete or missing forms will be returned.

- The editor-in chief reserves the right to request authors to delete parts from the manuscript that is deemed to be unsuitable for publication or which may be interpreted as derogatory or defamatory from the perspective of the editor. Failure will result in delay and/or ultimate forfeiture of the full APC.
- There are no charges for submission. However, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of ZAR 5500 (R5500 South African rands) is required for administration and publication. Payment details will be sent with accompanying communication of acceptance to the corresponding author.
- APC is to be paid upon acceptance of the article in one sum and not split in any way.
- Please note that no article will be processed or published until the full payment in one sum has been received and cleared by the receiving bank.
- The Editor-in-Chief’s decision is final.
Author Declaration
Form JSAI 01 (Authorship meta data, declaration and acceptance of terms and conditions) is to be downloaded and completed by the corresponding author in consultation and agreement with all co-authors.
Policy & Statements
LICENSING TERMS
The journal operates under the Open Access Policy in that all published contents are available for free and open access at any time. The journal is licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 (Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share Alike 4.0 International).
AUTHORSHIP AND COPYRIGHT TERMS
Authors’ names should be arranged according to the level of author contributions to the processes of the study and/or crafting of the publication. The principal contributor/s (or if shared) should be the first listed name/s with the superscript of X1 and should be followed by others with respective superscripts. The copyright of published materials belongs to the author/s. JSAI allows the author to hold the copyright without restrictions. Under the Creative Commons open license, the journal grants the usage rights to other individuals or parties with immediate free access to the work, permitting any user to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles, in crawling technology, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose without infringement of any copyright or any patent rights embedded or associated with the publication.
PUBLICATION ETHICS AND MALPRACTICE STATEMENTS
JSAI subscribes to ethical practices. Authors are obliged to adhere to all ethical considerations and seriously apply them in the crafting, development and submission of their work. Authors are obliged to declare that the submitted manuscript has not been previously published in any form or submitted for publication consideration in any other journal or source. Further, it is illegal to submit any plagiarized work or work which contain any malpractices. Excellent and high standards include but are not limited to: proper acknowledgement of all sources of all materials borrowed or adapted in a part or in full from other authors/sources through correct citations and references.
Authors are obliged to declare that the submitted manuscript is free from ethical and research misconducts which amongst others include: plagiarism, falsified citations and referencing, containing of misleading or false information, duplication and inappropriately compartmentalising the study results into many articles. Transgression of these guidelines will result in rejection of the submission. Post the publication, surfacing of misconduct will result in legal measures against the authors and the removal of the article from the archive list and from its present publication status in JSAI.
The methodology section should provide adequate details of data collection processes, ethical protocols of permission to conduct the study and ethical clearance based on the nature of the study. Evidence of permissions and ethical protocols may be requested by the editor at any given time. Permissions and ethical protocols should be presented in their original form.
The corresponding author is taken as the representative of all authors in the publication and is obliged to complete the consent form to agree with all publication ethics and malpractice statements, policy and statements, and conditions before the manuscript review process. All legal issues, if any will be passed on to the authors and co-authors and will be responsible for all cost. Authors/co-authors accept these terms and conditions, and that their contact details will be released to the necessary parties as part of the legal process or for any disputes that may arise, and that in the such cases consent will not be sort from the authors, co-authors or affiliations for release of their contact details.
ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES
Being an Open Access Journal, JSAI does not charge any fees to the public for accessing journal articles published on its website. However, Authors and co-authors are obliged to honour the processing charge (of ZAR 5500 / R5500 South African Rands) per submission upon acceptance after review and before further processing and publication. Processing charges are to be paid in one full sum of the total of ZAR 5500 (R5500 South African Rands). All bank charges/surcharges are excluded. Authors are made aware of the processing charges for informed decisions on the manuscript submission before the article is sent to reviewers. Apart from publication fees, the journal is presently self-funded and receives no funds through other means.
There will be no refunds in part or in full for whatever reason of withdrawal at any stage after the acceptance communication and confirmation by the corresponding author or due to the journal’s withdrawal of the submission due to an infringement of the journal policy and statements.
REPOSITORY POLICY
JSAI allows authors to deposit versions of their works in an institutional or any other non-conflicting repository website of the author’s choice after publication. However, such versions must include the full title of JSAI, publication details and its website. The journal encourages the inclusion of ORCID identification in the submission’s metadata.
LEGAL OR OTHER ISSUES THAT MAY ARISE
The hosting publisher, the journal, editors, advisory board members or any associates of the journal (JSAI) do not take any responsibility for any direct or any indirect conflicts/disputes/infringement/any other issues directly or indirectly related to the published article and if such do arise it will be the responsibility of the author/authors to resolve independently.
FREQUENCY OF PUBLICATION
JSAI publishes articles continuously. Submissions ready for publication with confirmed APC paid in one full sum will be immediately uploaded on the journal’s website.

The journal welcomes African and international submissions.
